The Glen Elk Historic District originally recognized in 1993 encompasses a unique historic warehouse district located between former B&O Rail (now active CSX) and the Elk Creek to the south. Directly abutting the historic downtown, this area was developed in the late nineteenth century into the early twentieth century and features large multi-story brick warehouse style development reminiscent of New York City development in Brooklyn. Mapping below provides information on the variety of businesses located in this district.
