Councilman Sam “Zeke” Lopez Honored for 20 Years of Service

Mayor Catherine Goings presented Sam “Zeke” Lopez with a plaque for his 20 years of public service to the City of Clarksburg. This evening marks his final City Council Meeting.  Lopez has served the City as councilmember since 1997 as well as Vice Mayor and held the highest honor of Mayor for two consecutive terms from 2003 – 2007.

Some of Councilman Lopez’s many accomplishments while serving were the various streetscape projects throughout downtown and Glen Elk, Jackson Square, Splash Zone, North View, East End and Central Fire Station purchases and upgrades, WV State Office Complex and the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center. 

Mayor Catherine Goings stated, “If I ever wanted an unbiased opinion, Zeke was my go to.  I want to thank you for your 20 years of service, you have always had the City’s best interest at heart as well as the residents of our community.”

Thank you for caring about our community and being a part of Clarksburg’s “Proud Past and Unlimited Future”.

Councilman Lopez was also presented with the Keys to the City in a reception held prior to the Council Meeting.  Councilman Lopez did not seek re-election.
