Urban Renewal Authority Executes Loan Closing for Demolitions Throughout City


On Thursday, October 5th 2017, Clarksburg Urban Renewal Authority (URA) Chairman Anthony Secret executed a loan closing with MVB Bank for $400,000 to be used for the asbestos abatement and demolition of various structures throughout the City of Clarksburg.  In addition to Chairman Secret, also in attendance were:  City Manager Martin Howe as the City is guarantor of the loan, Jim Harris, legal counsel for URA and Herman DeProspero, Market President MVB North.

The Clarksburg Urban Renewal Authority is a commission of the City that buys and sells property for development purposes.  The URA is able to reinvest funds from development projects into other economic development programs.  The Urban Renewal Plan currently contains approximately 56 addresses for abatement and/or demolition.

The Urban Renewal Authority approved the resolution to enter into a loan with MVB Bank in the amount of $400,000 for the purpose of demolition at their September 21, 2017 meeting.

The advertisement for bids is available on our website at .  All bids are due by 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at which point the URA will consider awarding at their November 2, 2017 meeting.

The URA meets on the second Thursday of every month at 8:30 AM in the City Manager’s Conference Room in City Hall.  Members of the Clarksburg URA include:  Chairman Anthony Secret Jr., Vice Chairman John Madia, Sam Gallo, Martin Howe, Adam Rowh, Frank Ferrari (City Council Representative) and James Harris (legal counsel).
