Pike Street Paving Project

A project award meeting was held Wednesday, July 27th by the WV Department of Highways for the Pike Street Paving Project.  The contract was awarded to Mountaineer Contractors of Kingwood, West Virginia.

The $1.2 million dollar project will include milling and paving, pavement markings as well as ADA sidewalk upgrades.

The resurfacing of Pike Street is two individual projects.  The scope for the two projects are:  Project One is on Pike Street from the vicinity of Oak Street to Peck Street.  Project two is on Pike Street from the vicinity of River Road to the vicinity of North 27th Street.

Update 8/19/16:

Phase 1 of the Pike Street Improvement Project is well underway.

The WV Department of Highway’s contractor is currently installing handicap accessible curbs at corner of Oak Street and East Pike Street.  All intersections crossing Pike Street within the project area will be made handicap accessible in preparation for the resurfacing of Pike Street.

As per our previous story, the 1.2 million dollar project will include ADA sidewalk upgrades, pavement markings as well as milling and paving.

Update 9/8/16:

Contractors continue milling of Pike Street as part of phase 2 of the Pike Street Improvement Project.  Phase 1 of the Pike Street Improvement Project has already been completed which included various upgrades such as guardrail replacement and ADA ramp installation.

As a reminder, there will be no street parking during various night hours.  Stay tuned for updates as they move into the final paving stage.  

 

 Update 9/19/16:

Per the WV Department of Highways, the contractor will begin paving West Pike Street TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2016.  The paving will take place during the day and is anticipated to take 2 weeks to be completed.
