Clarksburg Firefighters donate 75 hams

The Reason for the Season…

Every year since 1978 the Clarksburg Fire Department has been donating hams to local charities.  This year was no different.  The International Association of Fire Fighters Local Union 89 matched the firefighter donations, thus enabling them to purchase 75 hams.  The hams will be distributed to the Clarksburg Mission and Salvation Army.  Major Gilliam, Corps Officer, of the Salvation Army stated, “We greatly appreciate it and will get to help even more families this year.”

Marion Watts, Vice President of the I.A.F.F. Local Union 89 expressed “This is a great way to help the community.  As firefighters, we see the need every day”.

Donating is nothing new to our local firefighters when it comes to being charitable. They stay active in the community all year long with programs such as “fill the boot” and “coat for kids”.
