The sunlight shines on Clarksburg’s Fire Department

Today, October 21, 2013, the City of Clarksburg is proud to welcome Jon Handschumacher to the Clarksburg Fire Department.  The official oath of office, given by City Clerk, Annette M. Wright, certifies that Handschumacher is officially appointed to the duties of the office of Firefighter in the Fire Department of the City of Clarksburg, to the best of his skill and judgment, so help him God.  Handschumacher lifted his hand to the sky and took the official oath which asked for his support of the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of West Virginia and the Charter of the City of Clarksburg.

In attendance for the Swearing-In was Mayor, Catherine Goings, Vice-Mayor, Gary Bowden and Councilwoman, Margaret Bailey, City Manager, Martin Howe and many of the Clarksburg Firefighters.  The Council was there to support the City’s new hire and thank him for his commitment to help protect the community.

Fire Chief, Rick Scott explained to the audience “This is an important day in Jon’s career in public service.”  Scott went on to explain that “Jon is now a family member of the Clarksburg Fire Department.”

Handschumacher states, “I am excited to begin this career, but I have a lot to learn.  I am grateful for this opportunity to be on the Clarksburg Fire Department.”  Also in attendance was John’s family, including his parents Terry and Pam Handschumacher, Mother-in-Law Debbi Toth, Jon’s Aunt Paula Hackathorn, wife Allison and two children Landry and Paisley.
