The North 25th Street Glass and Zinc site, located on the banks of the North Fork River, was added to the Superfund National Priorities List (NPL) in September 2016. Contamination from the past industrial practices resulted in contamination to the soil and sediments with lead, arsenic and zinc. EPA is starting the remedial investigation, to fully evaluate the nature and extent of contamination on the site.
The first phase of EPA's sampling is scheduled to begin in late September 2019. Samples will be collected for surface soil, on the site property and in the nearby residential area. Subsurface soil will be sampled on site property. Monitoring wells will also be installed to learn more about groundwater flow and collect groundwater samples.
An OPEN HOUSE will take place MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the St. James Parish Center (next to St. James Church at 2107 Pride Avenue), Clarksburg There will be no formal presentation. Please stop by with any questions and to meet EPA and West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection representatives.
