Johnny Workman began his career with the City of Clarksburg in the City Waste Department in 1987. In 1991 he became a mechanic in the Street Department and in 1999 was promoted to Foreman of Vehicle Maintenance. Through his hard work and dedication, he was promoted to Assistant Public Works Superintendent in August 2013.
Mr. Workman is a second-generation City employee as his father Roscoe Workman formerly worked for the City. His contributions to City operations have extended far beyond his duties and responsibilities. Johnny has dedicated endless hours of his own personal time during evenings and weekends to assist crews on various projects. He has received letters of recognition and appreciation along with being named Employee of the Month. In describing John, Supervisors use the terms “dynamic”, “dedicated” and “loyal”.
Public Works Foreman Chris Pinion stated Johnny has been an excellent leader and treats all employees with respect and dignity, “Johnny is a hard boiled egg- hard on the outside but soft on the inside.”
Johnny resides in North View with his wife Gloria. He has three children and one grandchild. Johnny’s hobbies include camping and spending time with his grandson Max.
Johnny once stated “Our days at Public Works don’t start or end by the clock”. Congratulations Johnny, the City is appreciative of your hard work and dedication.
