The Police Civil Service Commission convened for a meeting today at 11 AM.
Commission Chairman Gary Keith called the meeting to order. After the April 22, 2019 Minutes were unanimously approved (2-0), the Commission convened into Executive Session to review and consider the background information on its five (5) candidates. Upon returning from Executive Session, it was decided that four (4) candidates would continue forward. The fifth candidate would be removed, but have the right to appeal within 10 days of receiving notification of removal.
Under New Business, the Commission acted upon a request by an officer to delay the testing or to have the promotional exam sent to him to have administered.
It was decided upon to move forward with the testing for the three vacancies within the Rank of Sergeant and provide the officer comparable time to study then take the test upon his return. If said officer scores within the top three (3), the officer would be promoted and the rank of Sergeant would return to the budgeted number of Sergeants through attrition.
The meeting was then adjourned.
In attendance for today’s meeting were: Police Civil Service Chairman Gary Keith, Police Civil Service Member Arch Benninger, City Manager Martin Howe, Police Chief Robbie Hilliard, Deputy Chief Jason Snider, Detective/Patrolman First Class William Swiger and City Clerk/Secretary Annette Wright
