Fifth grade students of Nutter Fort Intermediate recently had the opportunity to present their favorite subjects during a student showcase held at the school for all caring adults to attend.
Students had the opportunity to pick from arts, science, or math related topics and put together a showcase all of their own with minimal guidance from teachers. Teachers presented options for their students to use during their showcase, but had the opportunity to develop each piece on their own.
Students presented showcases on historical events such as 9/11, recreated popular songs such as Ariana Grande’s “Thank You Next” to thank their teachers, wrote stories and drew matching illustrations, and wrote poetry to name a few. The showcase was an opportunity for the fifth graders to focus solely on a subject they are passionate about and engage solely with that subject.
All the students involved in the showcase had the opportunity to present their pieces, some did so individually, pairs, or groups.
The showcase was the first of its kind at the school and received outpouring amount of support from parents.
