An exciting project is now underway for our residents! The City of Clarksburg & City Parks of Clarksburg are renovating the Children’s Waterplay Pool at Splash Zone.
The original waterplay pool was built in 2000 and was in desperate need of replacement; replacement parts could not be found and the safety surfacing was starting to fail.
City leaders and Park Board officials have been working together for the past several months to make this project a reality.
The new structure will include a large dumping bucket, a 3-foot slide and a 4-foot slide, shade roof, palm tree spray, fish cannons and a rain ripple top in addition to several other features!
Ground was broken on April 22 and it is anticipated that the project will be completed in time for Splash Zones opening on May 25.
Park Superintendent John Cooper stated, “This project is much needed and long overdue, the original structure was opened in 2000 and has far exceeded its life expectancy. We are utilizing the existing pool, with some modifications to save on costs. This is a great addition to Splash Zone and I am sure our children will have many years of enjoyment!”
