The Robert C. Byrd Greenhouse is open to the public! Students of Robert C. Byrd’s Greenhouse and Horticulture Classes will be selling a variety of tomato and pepper plants. Students are also selling herb bowls, which contain a variety of lettuce and herbs. Hanging flower baskets, flowers for planting, and ferns will are also available at the school’s greenhouse. All items were planted as seeds by the students of both classes in February.
“Students enjoy the opportunity to get out of the classroom and participate in hands on activities. For them to see their plants grow and flower overtime is rewarding to the students”, said Greenhouse and Horticulture advisor, Alyson Carozza. Carozza just recently took over the program at Robert C. Byrd High School, both classes were recently under the instruction of former advisor Robert Herrod, who is now the assistant principal at Liberty High School.
The public can visit Robert C. Byrd’s greenhouse Monday-Friday During school hours (8a.m.-3p.m.) while supplies last, and on Saturdays May 4th, 11th, and 18th from 8a.m.-3p.m. For more information please call Robert C. Byrd High School at (304)326-7200.
