The City of Clarksburg has been remediating 10 road slip projects due to embankment failures throughout the City of Clarksburg. There are 7 active or completed projects and 3 projects that are being monitored throughout the 2018-2019 winter season.
The Request For Proposals for engineering services on all slips went out April 13, 2018 and all proposals were due by April 30, 2018. All of the Engineers who provided proposals were interviewed the week of May 10, 2018 by the City Administration. Each Engineering Firm that was interviewed was assigned 2 slip remediation projects. Clarksburg City Council approved Ascent Consulting and Engineering at their regularly scheduled Council meeting held on May 17, 2018, while all other project Engineers were approved during Council’s meeting on June 7, 2018. Project Engineers that were approved at the June, 7 2018 Council meeting were: Hornor Brothers Engineers, Terradon Corporation, Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., The Thrasher Group, and Ascent Consulting and Engineering.
The Chestnut Street near Kramer Drive Slip Project is currently being monitored monthly by Terradon Corporation. They have been monitoring movement of the slip throughout the winter season, and will provide the City of Clarksburg geotechnical and monitoring reports throughout the winter. Come spring of 2019 the City may proceed with remediation of the current slip or request a design based on the results of the monthly reports. Terradon Corporation has provided the City of Clarksburg with a preliminary design and budget. Engineering cost of the project is $39,950.
