The landslide repair at the Quarry Development location was advertised for competitive bid in mid-September 2018. A pre-bid meeting was held on site on September 20, 2018. A pre-bid meeting allows contractors who have taken interest in a project to review the scope of the project with both city officials and Thrasher Engineering, the Engineer on the project. A bid opening was held October 2, 2018 in the City Manager’s conference room, where 4 bids were received. Rock Forge Bridge Company was the successful bidder, and Council awarded their bid on October 4, 2018. A contract signing was held on October 12, 2018 and a Notice to Proceed was issued. The Quarry Slip Remediation Project consisted of a 230 linear foot H-Pile wall and 183 cubic yards of earthwork to repair the slip along Quarry Drive. The final construction included 16 tons of shoulder stone to repair the existing shoulder, 20 tons of wearing course, 40 tons of HMA Type I Base course, and 90 tons of Class I aggregate Base Course for repair of Quarry Drive itself. Work on the project began November 12, 2018. The total cost of the project, including engineering, is $550,285. The project has been completed and the Thrasher Group has submitted the final pay application.
