The Palace on Main, located at 168 West Main Street in Uptown Clarksburg, is being refurbished into affordable housing with an emphasis on persons 55 or older.
City officials were provided a tour of the Palace on Main by developer Steve Sadd. The tour provided an in-depth preview of the apartments and the completed construction. The project is anticipated to being completed in late January.
The interior will consist of 40 residential units (27 one-bedroom units, 7 two-bedroom units and 6 three-bedroom units) according to Developer Steve Sadd of Sadd Brothers LLC.
Amenities include a secured environment with Access Controlled Entry, ample parking, community room, elevator, LED lighting, energy star rated appliances, washer and dryer, dishwasher and cable hook-up.
Being centrally located, the Palace on Main will allow residents access to all downtown amenities as well as public transportation.
City Manager Martin Howe stated, “The Palace on Main will have an immediate impact to the Central Business District as well as restoring a historical building and providing a rebirth of a great notable structure.”
Sadd Brothers Development LLC became involved in the project in 2016 and applied for low-income housing tax credits through the WV Housing Development Fund whose mission is to provide safe and affordable housing for as many as possible. A partnership was then formed with the Clarksburg-Harrison Regional Housing Authority whom will manage the property.
Steve Sadd stated he is looking forward to the completion of the project and the community seeing and benefiting from an extraordinary building with modern amenities that took the effort of many individuals.
The Palace on Main is currently leasing and tenants will begin moving in the first of February 2019.
