Altered Productions Institute for Creative Arts

Currently in its 9th season, Altered Productions Institute for Creative Arts (API), is bringing the arts to life in Uptown Clarksburg. Founded by Joe and Maureen Yeager, API focuses on all major styles of dance. Within the last year, the founders have retired, and the Institute is now being run by a hands on board of directors. “The board members are hands on in daily operations of the Institute”, explained board member Andrew King.

API was originated based on a dance company, Dramatic Force International (DFI), which Joe and Maureen started while they spent time in Belize doing missionary work. DFI was a full time art institute that traveled and performed in many churches and for community and national events. The same passion and drive that was put into their institution in Belize is what API is based upon.

Altered Productions Institute for Creative Arts focuses on dance and pre-professional dance. They provide classes in contemporary, hip-hop, tap, pointe, modern, jazz, and ballet, and provide classes for all ages. They are also expanding their classes into musical theater and hope to one day include visual art and music. King explained, “The overall goal for API is to be full time art institute that is located in Clarksburg”.

API is under the artistic direction of Jamie Paletta. Paletta, is a seven (7) year dance veteran of the company, which makes her a natural replacement for Bethany Yeager, former Artistic Director and daughter of Joe and Maureen. Jamie Brings the same passion and drive to the institute that the Yeager’s had when it was first originated API, with that drive and passion, she also brings a new perspective for the artistic direction of the institute. Altered Productions will host a Winter Showcase to highlight their senior dancers and soloists. Their spring production will be held this upcoming May at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center.

Altered Productions Institute is located 201 W Pike St, Clarksburg and be contacted by phone: (304) 566-9040 or by email: alteredproductionsinstitute@gmail.com.  Additional information can be found on their website: https://www.apiwv.org/ or by liking them on Facebook: Altered Productions Institute for Creative Arts.
